Ways to save money when expecting

Wether you are ttc, thinking about ttc, or already pregnant; Im sure one of the many things going through your mind is all those sweet little baby buys that your home will soon be filled with. But the reality of the situation is that all those little cute nursery items and diapers all add up. And unless you are extremely blessed you probabley arent going to recieve everything you need and want at your baby shower so i just wanted to share a few tips and tricks with you.

1. Thrift and consignment stores are your friend.
Every bargain shopping mama I know loves thrift stores. And just because Its second hand does not mean that you have to give up quality. I know that when I was pregnant with Colin i found some really great Polo by Ralph Lauren polos for like $4 and they looked brand new. Check your local paper for larger scale kids consignment sales.

2. Utilize big sales like black friday.
Even if you havent conceived yet, big sales are the best time to get your big baby buys like, cloth diapers, your crib, or a glider. This year right before thanksgiving the crib i want was 20% off. I didnt have the extra cash quiet yet but i will be watching out for these types of sales in the future. Why pay retail when there are sales like this all the time.

3. Buy slowly over time.
During our last pregnancy i vowed to but at least one thing a week until the baby was here and even though we lost our little bean I plan to continue this through our ttc journey. It doesnt matter if it costs $10 or $100. If you Buy slowly its not as over whelming once your little one is here.

At the end of the day saving money is all about a little planning and none of these tactics take a whole lot of extra time, just an eye for a deal.
Good luck and happy baby shopping
